ceremony

And so January rolled around... and with that, our 2nd ultrasound at 17 weeks. At this time, we probably could have found out whether Baby Bearsha was a boy or girl... but Rich & I love surprises - so we patiently await the moment at delivery when Rich leans over & exclaims, "It's a ____!!!"

But watching Baby Bearsha transformed from a little, itty bitty peanut to a baby with arms, legs, teeny tiny feet, a spinal column, a beating heart - that was priceless!!

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the meantime, Rich & I had been avidly enjoying listening to our baby's heartbeat thumping away at home, with a rented doppler, that we highly, highly suggest to all other pregnant gals!! We were able to easily find the heartbeat by 12 weeks and were able to hear baby's kicks & punches before they were felt or seen...
You can rent the doohickey at Babybeat for $30/month, with no time contracts &, at this time, free shipping both to & fro. Can't beat that!!
 The Nursery
By January 2002, we started transforming our 2nd bedroom, the guest bedroom, into a baby nursery for little Baby Bearsha .
While I was busy incubating the little bugger, Rich was raring to go in the nursery... and he's been going non-stop ever since. But, I gotta admit, if it hadn't been for his unflagging enthusiasm, we wouldn't be nearly so far along, as I've got a bad habit of draaaagging my feet. hehehe. So, he's my good little boy.
Drawing the mirror design
By now, Rich was antsy to get started painting... ants in his pants, I tell ya. So with my direction, he tackled the job superbly & finished in no time flat. We'd decided to paint 2 adjacent walls a bluish-lavender, and the other 2 adjacent walls a light sage green. Being ultra-protective of lil ol' me, I was kept wholly out of the room, for fear of those nasty paint fumes...
The work in progress...
Before tackling painting the nursery, Rich got the idea to create some "funky-styled" nursery furniture... a mirror, he thought. So, he enlisted my help to design & draw it on plywood (seen above)...
(That's Flip Flop, ever watchful on top of the armoire, making sure we do everything right!! hehe. And this is the nursery all cleared of the guest bedroom furniture, save for "baby's armoire.")
The mess...
And after a whole lot of cleaning up, selling some furniture, while buying other items... time for the finished product, so far. *Drum roll please*
The finished product...
Baby's armoire filled with itty bitty clothes
~ Nursing Nook ~
Finished mirror, new recliner & bookcase
And finally, we have our crib!! So the nursery is all complete, just awaiting the addition of an itty bitty baby... And yep, those are clouds & a sun above the crib. hehe. We made 'em together out of foamcore, and it hides a shelf for Baby Bearsha's many stuffed animals.
